This is my view from my desk, just beyond this computer screen. I really like this view, and I really, really like this view on sunny days. At this time of year, things are finally green, and yes, that is the sun in sky. I enjoy the flag waving and the little cupola on the county board room. It is probably too much information to state that there are sometimes nasty, nuisance pigeons out there, but they haven't been so bad lately and I try to ignore them when they are here.
Today is the boys' first day of summer- they get out of school in an hour and will officially be 5th and 3rd graders. What Big does not yet know for sure is that he will be leaving the elementary school in September to attend a local private day school (just waiting on that acceptance letter now!!). He suspects that this is coming, I think, but isn't completely on board with the plan and so we aborted all discussions around Memorial Day weekend and decided to let him finish his year out in peace. In my house, 10 year olds do not make the decision about what is best for them....and his current public school placement is not best for him. Not looking forward to telling him all this, but soooooooo looking forward to the opportunities and growth that this new school will bring to him!!!!
In any event, I can still feel the excitement of the last day of school- all of the ripe possibility of a hot, fun summer. I am so proud of my kids this year-- they both shined in their own ways, and they deserve every amount of fun that lies ahead of them.
