From the ride home Friday to the night’s sleep on Sunday, this weekend was exactly what I needed in so many ways.
Helped at school carnival set up Friday night. Came home finished Big’s NCS application. Big relief to have that done and in. Packed, and headed to GF to spend the night en route to NYC.
Up and out by 7 on Saturday, to the Bronx by 10:30 where we parked, shopped for Yankees gear and hopped the D train to Chinatown for dim sum at Jing Fong. Fun and delicious! The highlights for me were the beef and noodle and the steamed shrimp dumplings. Everyone enjoyed it and it was definitely an experience.
The game was, well, wet and the Yankees lost. Just sort of a boring game, to boot. Out of the Bronx by 7:30 and lots of traffic to the bridge. Then a few carsick children who ate too many garlic fries. Heavy rain on the Thruway, but we got home at 1:00 am. Everyone was in a good mood, all day. Hey, traveling with bigger kids is kinda FUN!
Woke up to brilliant sunshine and wandered out to the deck around 8:15...where I remained for about 4 hours, trading in coffee and Pjs for bathing suit and cold seltzer as the day progressed. Walked into town for a pedicure and cooked steaks on the grill before heading up to Greeley’s first birthday party and home for some quiet reading in bed with the window open, listening to the rain. Just a great, great day. Got the relaxation I have been looking for so many weeks running.
This morning, got in about 4 miles and the skies cleared for a pretty misty/sunny ride to work.
What more can you really ask for?
