On the Trail and Getting the Most Out of Our Health Insurance Plan

So today friend L and I lead a hike up two 46ers, Whiteface and Esther, for the local youth outing club. Mostly just our kids, a few others. Big hiked like a champ....until the last half mile of the hike. No complaining, mind you, just limping. He had mentioned on the first day home from camp that he has been having some ankle trouble towards the end of hikes....and thought I noticed nothing around the house and on local trails with the dog. Today, it was quite swollen and really hurting him. The DX? Well, I guess he has flat feet and perhaps an extra bone and we are ruling out said extra bone? Which would have to be surgically removed? Come now, I have just about had it with weird medical issues this year.

And please can I say that I now live for my overnight oatmeal....who would ever think that cold oatmeal would be so good??

  1. I hope your plan covers orthotics better than mine. Yikes.

Do you sing while hiking with kids? That's my trick for motivating kids on the trail. Sing stupid song really loudly. Course now daughter's getting old enough that it's beginning to be sort of embarrassing.
